Choosing the right Plastic Wholesaler for your Signage

Vacuum formed plastic signs can be a profitable area of the sign industry for any franchise owner ... providing you're using the right wholesale manufacturer. Your selection of a reliable wholesale manufacturing company is very important to the success of developing this area of the sign industry. Hanson Sign Companies has been producing high quality vacuum formed & embossed lexan faces since 1988. We have produced plastic faces for large companies like Boston Market, Wendy's, H&R Block, Edward Jones Investments and the UPS Store to name a few. We feel our paint department produces the highest quality in the industry. Akzo Nobel, which manufactures the paint used in spraying polycarbonate faces, visited our facility and had this to say about our operation: "It was easy to tell that their operations rank in the top 10% nation wide. Hanson Sign Companies has a small operation (33 total employees), but their efforts have certainly paid off in that their operations put out a consistent quality product."

Ensuring your order will be handled correctly

It is important to be prepared when dealing with a wholesale manufacturer. Below, you'll find a list of things you should do when contacting a wholesale manufacturer to order your plastic face.

  • Always try to fax artwork when requesting a quotation. This will help your representative give you a more accurate price. Try to include colors, dimensions and installation methods. All of these will reflect the prices and accuracy at which your job is quoted.
  • Make sure you have correct measurements of the trim size of the face. Trim size is the measurement from the end of each flange. Ask your representative what their standard measurement of the flange and pan depth is. (See the diagram below describing terminology)
  • Always request a quote in writing, either by fax or mail. Do this to ensure that the price you were quoted will be the same when you order. See if your representative offers quote numbers. This will aid you when you are ready to order a sign or if you have questions regarding the quote.
  • Discuss turn-around times when you receive a quotation, but be aware that these times change daily due to a variety of circumstances and review of final artwork and colors.
  • Your should ask the wholesaler what type of artwork they need. Here at Hanson Sign Companies, we prefer to have artwork on an IBM formatted disk or e-mailed in one or more of the following files: (.EPS,.PLT,.CDR,.AI)
  • Ask how the order will be shipped. If you have an account with a common carrier, UPS or other services, it may be beneficial to have your order shipped third party billing. This means you will be billed directly by the carrier service on your own account.
