Trim Size, Flange, Pan Depth, Copy Area, Visible Opening
Precise measurements of your sign are necessary to ensure you receive the correct quote and end product. Please see the following specifications for explanations of the industry terminology. Trim Size
Trim size is the outside measurement icluding flanges. (See illustration below.)
Flange
A flange is the lip of the pan beyond visible opening and copy area that slides into a cabinet retainer.
Pan Depth
The pan depth is the depth of the underside of the sign after vacuum forming.
Copy Area
The copy area is the top of the pan used for decoration and does not include the draft or flange.
Visible Opening
The visible opening is the space on the sign that is visible to onlookers once the sign has been installed in a cabinet. It does not include the flanges, which are covered by the retainer.
